Photographing your feet,

...is actually quite hard when you're doing it yourself.  Now, why would I be trying to photograph my feet?  Well, yesterday, it was cold, shocking I know, but at this time of year, the weather in the UK is pretty yukky.  So, there I was, sat at my desk, shivering, when a visit to Pinterest reminded of the cosy knitted wool socks and leg warmers I had been coveting, you know, the kind that can cost a small fortune.  But here I am, sat in a room full of felted jumpers and cardigans, some still with the sleeves attached.  There was the answer, sleeves.

After a bit of rummaging around, 2 matching sleeves were pillaged.

I used the cuffs for the top part, so they can be turned over,

took them both in down the side to make them straighter and a bit narrower,

(note to self : must clean boots)

and edged the bottom with a zig zag stitch (or you could overlock it if you have one) to stop the knit from fraying or unraveling.  And there you go, legwarmers.  I feel very 80's, but very warm!

Awsome leg warmers!! The same can be done to make armwarmers...my absolute fav things in the world...get sleeves...and invert them...the part that is usually the cuff, holds the armwarmer in place, usually just above the elbow...and it usually creates a lovely 'bell' shape, as the armwarmer gets wider and wider down to your hand! Ive made a few for this winter, and love them :)
And yes, the weather has been particularly nasty :D

Photographing feet is super difficult!

Love your leg warmers. I've made a couple pairs from shirt/sweater sleeves and never thought to make them more narrow. Thanks for the tip!

very cool legwarmers - i made some lovely arm-warmers out of one of Molly's old jumpers it has a bit of lycra so fits nice and snug and i added a press stud between thumb and fingers *toasty* in the snow i was wearing the neon pink/black striped ones i bought for an 8o's party!
i'll be looking through the cast off clothes pile for suitable sleeves for legwarmers now :)

They look great (and your boots look really comfy and warm!) The last time I wore leg warmers was when I was obsessed with the Kids from Fame. Might have to rummage around for some old wooly jumpers now!!

This is such a cute, easy idea - I love it ! Although they would probably have to be accessorised with wading boots after all the flooding here in Australia...

I think when you are phtographing your feet is simply because you have nothing better to do... but anyway, the post is interesting, so you don't have to feel bad or sad about the fact.
