Sticky situation...!

I signed up for a small, local craft exhibition which starts in October and is being held in the foyer of the museum.  There is space for about 15 items, and as, everything is going to be for sale, I was aiming to put in a few Softies but also some smaller, less complicated (and therefore cheaper, there is a credit crunch going on, after all!), items.  So, late yesterday evening, I whipped up some very simple decorated hair slides.

Lucy & her friend are test driving them at school today, so I can see how they stand up to a bit of wear and tear before making any more.

The button is stitched on, and the stitching also anchors the fabric to the slide, although I did add a blob of superglue to hold it in place more securely.  Anyone who follows me on Twitter will already know what happened next.

I went to bed last night with my finger and thumb glued together!

  1. Are your fingers ok today?
Question: is the fabric "finished" in any way or will it fray?

  2. Oh dear. I had a similar incident a few weeks ago re-attaching a leg to a frog ornament. Got it all over my hand, lol.

  3. I just made some the other day similar to these. Check them out on my blog. I used gorilla glue and let it dry over night. I slept with one in my hair last night and it's still holding up strong. So if the super glue doesn't work try the gorilla glue.
VERY CUTE and good luck at the craft sale! :)

  4. That is too funny! (On the serious side, I hope you can get your fingers apart painlessly soon!)

  5. kitty - the fabric is 2 layers stuck together with heat & bond, but am wondering if it will need some fray check painting on the edge.

avlor - fingers are now apart!

  6. That is the exact reason I'm only allowed superglue with the little brush thing now. A tube once exploded over my hands - that was not fun!

  9. Good way to get out of housework! The clips look great, could you do some of the little flowers on bobbles to sell too?

  10. Cute. Rubbing alcohol will unstick your fingers. 21 yrs ago my then 2 yr old glued her hands together. I rushed her to the doctor and they used rubbing alcohol :)

  12. So simple and cute!
I have to giggle about the super glue ;) It's just another fabulous crafting blunder that we all get to share. You think "ya, a tiny dab of super glue ought to do it..." and then bam! You're covered!

    Fantastic blog btw!
