I wish I was...

better at keeping a sketchbook!

Sketchbooks were never my strong point while I was studying for my degree, and since then, although I aspire to be a sketchbook keeper, I am naturally drawn to designing new patterns three dimensionally.

This is a bird idea I have been working on, and is actually version number three, the first resembling a slug rather than a bird, and the second was more dolphin like.  Whilst, the bird is still not quite right, I am at least, for now anyway, on the right track with it.

Apologies for the bad photography today, it's raining and the light is pretty grim, even Photoshop was unable to compensate enough!.  I have a few things that will be going into the Etsy shop later this week once I get images I am happier with.

And finally... check out the toadstool swap Flickr group photo pool, some lovely work going on in there, well done everyone!

(which reminds me... I must make my toadstool soon, quick, where's that 'to do' list!)

  1. :o))) lol I know what you mean. I keep signing up for swaps and losing track of which ones and what dates are and so on.
I also sympathise hugely with the sketchbook thing. That's why I'm so proud of my Russian doll swap sketches, even if they did start off on scraps of envelope and get stuck in a sketchbook later. I LOVE a good sketchbook and did loads for my HND but now I'm just not disciplined enough.

  2. Your little birdie is gorgeous!

I know what you mean about the sketchbook thing. I will happily fill pages with line drawings but rarely develop them into anything.

I tend to do better when I just get on and do!

  4. I know what you mean about the sketch book. I alway think I should be sketching this idea out, but don't. I see other people with sketch books and I get jealous. Love your bird by the way.

  8. I've often thought about using a sketchbook, but just seem to scribble on bits of paper then lose them! It seems like a good idea to record your thoughts, keep samples of fabric etc but I'm not sure I'm disciplined enough!

  9. What a sweet bird! I love his expression. My parent's parrot has the exact same look on her face when she gets excited.

  10. I move in waves through my sketchbooks/ journals, some times it suits and sometimes it doesn't. I have found that my blog has become a sketch book for me!
